Maybe you’re hoping to get away from the inflexible schedule of your high-pressure job. Maybe you'd like to be alone with your partner. Maybe you have the perfect vacation already planned, and you just need someone to arrange your luggage transfers (and a few other details). No problem!
In an effort to do a great job for every type of traveler, we’re about as flexible as any travel company can be. Read below, and see what kind of tour best suits your personality.
Guided Tours
Our guided tours are obviously our most popular vacations, and need little
explanation. In a nutshell, we set the tour dates, and then we take care
of everything for you once you arrive in the country or province you'll
be touring. You have an experienced guide with you throughout. We've
booked the country inns and hotels, made reservations at fine restaurants,
and planned excursions that will make you weak in the knees. For many
people, there's no better way to travel.
Self-guided tours
Our self-guided tours are for groups (of two or more people) who like to
bike at their own pace. You can begin on the day of your choice, and
just ride or hike to your heart’s content.
One of our assistants will meet your party on the first day to explain the tour, provide reliable maps, and answer any questions. Then off you go for a lovely, independent holiday! No schedules to meet, no small talk to make. With this type of tour we furnish assistance and support, but only when it’s necessary. We provide repair kits and a spare tube so you can solve small problems like flat tires, and an emergency number if you get into real trouble.
Escorted tours
Escorted tours offer all the benefits of self-guided tours with one major
bonus: an English-speaking guide and a support vehicle at your disposal.
You still set the agenda and decide the pace, but you’re ensured
peace-of-mind.
A certain number of activities — such as wine- or olive oil-tastings, guided visits of major towns, whale watching excursions, musical evenings and other specialized outings — can be included in these tours.
A bright new idea: Self-guided group tours
This year for the first time we're able to accommodate requests for self-guided
group tours to most of our destinations.
We provide you with a detailed roadbook and maps (as with a self-guided tour); you’re therefore able to bike on your own at your own pace, but because there are other participants, you may also find road companions. In the evening you might join the group for meals, but you may decide instead to eat at a separate table with your partner if you wish for privacy.
Instead of just transferring your luggage, we supply a support vehicle with an English-speaking driver. He’ll be at your disposal in case of problems, he’ll give you tips for next day, and— most happily— he’ll help break down the language barrier.
We also supply a cellphone for every 4 people. Have a flat tire? Hopelessly lost? Getting tired? Just call and the driver is minutes away.
