2019 Itinerary

So many tried to invade and conquer this beautiful part of the world, leaving many traces behind. Built on layers and layers of history - from ancient Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Venetians, Austro-Hungarians, Ottomans, Napoleon and many others, this country managed to preserve its independence and keep this beautiful land for themselves. On this summer “bike-light” tour, you will visit Dalmatia with its capital city of Split and surrounding islands known for its dazzling transparent opal-coloured waters. We end this tour in the world famous historic city of Dubrovnik with its fortification walls providing the perfect movie setting for the popular Game of Thrones.

Day One — Check-in / swimming / Šolta / beekeeper visit / 10km cycling (easy)

Check in opens at 11:00 a.m. Just roll your luggage to your boat to meet and greet your guides! You can leave your luggage with us while our crew gets the boat ready for boarding. Following a 12 noon boarding, your guides will give you a short briefing before we enjoy lunch while heading towards our first island - Šolta. Whenever possible, we will drop anchor for a quick refreshing dip in the sapphire Adriatic sea!

On Šolta, we will have our first easy 10 km bike ride and en-route we will visit our special friend and ambassador of beekeeping, Goran, who will entertain us with his stories of the world's most important insects.

At the end of our tour on Šolta, our captain will take us to the 2nd largest Croatian city of Split, the capital of Dalmatia. After our welcome dinner and as the sun sets, a local guide will give us a city tour of the famous and historic Diocletian's Palace.

Day Two — Morning hike in Split / afternoon bike ride / olive mill visit / 11 km cycling (easy)

With an early breakfast, we will avoid the city crowds as well as the summer heat and explore more of Split. You will have the option to spend extra time in the palace, explore the museums or galleries or perhaps join us for a short hike up to the shady hill of Marijan - the best viewpoint of the city.

The captain will then cruise towards Supetar on the island of Brač, third largest in Croatia. We’ll unload the bikes and go for an easy and scenic 11 km bike ride to the town of Postira. The island of Brač is famous for 3 things: olives, limestone and sardines. In this quaint small town, we will visit a local co-operative olive mill and learn a few things about olive varieties, how are they processed into oil, followed by a tasting. In Postira, you will have the option to enjoy the beach or cafés or do some extra cycling! Back on board, the captain will then take us back to the mainland towards the magnificent canyon of Cetina and its mighty pirate city of Omiš where we stay for the night.

Day Three — Optional rafting or exploring Omiš / sailing to Bol on island of Brač

If you want to add that extra kick to your active holiday, today you have the option to try your skills at rafting. You will be in the safe hands of the Croatian National rafting team. Cetina is very timid compared to the world-famous Colorado. However, its rapids will make it exciting and fun for all. The canyon itself is full of carst cliffs from which people jump into the fresh water below. Perhaps you would rather soak up the sun on a pebbly beach or climb a mountain. Omiš is the adventure capital of Dalmatia so options are plentiful.

After a busy morning, we will cruise around the coast of Brač island arriving at the famous town of Bol. In the afternoon you might decide to have a snooze in your air-conditioned cosy cabin or perhaps soak up some more vitamin D on the sundeck while sipping a cocktail and flashing your cameras at the dazzling Adriatic island and dramatic mountains rising from the mainland.

Before or even after dinner, you can visit the famous Golden Horn beach or perhaps sample the local wines in Bol - some of the best in the country.

Day Four — Hvar / 12 km cycling (easy)

Early morning, we will cross from Brač to the island of lavender - Hvar. Morning will be reserved for another bike ride and trying out one of the best gelatos in the country.

In Jelsa, we will visit Beki and indulge in a sugar feast - from massive gelato cup desserts, iced coffee to baklavas and cakes. After enjoying our treat, we will cruise to a quiet isolated bay where the captain will drop anchor for a swim after which we will dock in the busy harbour of Hvar.

Day Five —  Korčula / optional wine tasting / historical city tour / 12 km cycling (easy)

While enjoying glitzy Hvar, you just might spot a celebrity or two. You can enjoy a relaxing morning as our boat will be sailing from Hvar to the small village of Račišće on island Korčula. If possible, the captain will drop anchor in a secluded bay of Santa Domenica for a swim as well as for an opportunity for wine lovers to visit one of the most renown wine makers in Dalmatia with its grapes dating back from Greek times. When the boat gets us to the shores of Korčula, an easy 12 km bike ride awaits us. We will ride along the undulating coast next to the water until we reach the town of Korčula where we sleep for the night.

Declared by the locals as the birthplace of famous Marco Polo, we will enjoy a guided tour of this town.

Day Six —Šipan / afternoon optional hike to Mljet national park / 10 km cycling (easy)

After breakfast, we enjoy another beautiful ride. Following an easy 10 km trek through vineyards where the Greeks were the first to set foot on the island, we will be able to enjoy a rare sandy beach on the east coast of the Adriatic.

Our boat picks us up at Lumbarda, a village on the southern tip of Korčula island and takes us to the island of Mljet where we will stay a few hours. There is an optional visit to the national park just a short hike away. You can swim in its salt lakes or take a boat to visit a monastery on a tiny island within an island or just walk around and admire the rich flora and fauna!

From Pomena on the northern part of Mljet, our captain will motor to the tiny island of Šipan where we will spend the night.

Day Seven — Historical tour of Dubrovnik / swim / 10 km cycling (easy)

We will ride our bikes from the port of Šipanska Luka with a short stop in Suđurađ. Šipan belongs to the “Deer” islands or the Elaphit archipelago. Some time ago, rich nobles of the Dubrovnik Republic built their summer homes here. Unfortunately, many were abandoned and have fallen into disrepair. The island’s small population keeps working hard cultivating the mineral rich soil where they have planted their orchards, vineyards and gardens. Don't be surprised if a sheep or a goat crosses the road in front of you!

After our bike ride, we set sail for the world famous city of Dubrovnik! A local tour guide will show us the marks of its most recent and turbulent history, explain to us (from a local's prospective) what it is like to live in this famous tourist-buzzing city and show us the locations where the movie scenes of Games of Thrones were filmed!

Tonight, will be our farewell dinner. Hopefully you will have some energy left to party!

Day Eight — Dubrovnik / Check out

Sadly, this wonderful week packed with fun and adventure has come to an end. Hopefully you have taken lots of photos to show to your friends. The time has come to part. Don't be shy to shed a tear or two as you hug your new friends and say goodbye!

Check out is after breakfast by 9:00 a.m.
